蹦极名称由来
蹦极源于英文“bungy”或者“bungee”，为什么会有两个名字呢？
Bungee jumping comes from "bungy" or "bungee" in English. Why are there two names?

第二种说法：bungy和bungee是有差别的bungee所用的绳索是用多种材料复合而成，在北美通常用5/8英寸军事规格的绳索，伸缩率能达到210%，现在也有使用 TR2 和Ripcord，伸缩率分别达到240%和280%，它的特点是有更高的自由落体，反弹时间更长，感觉更刺激。
The second is that bungy and bungee are different bungee ropes made of a variety of materials. In North America, they are usually made of 5/8 inch military specifications, with a stretching rate of 210%. Now TR2 and Ripcord are also used, with a stretching rate of 240% and 280%, respectively. They are characterized by higher free fall, longer rebound time and more exciting feeling.
bungy发源于新西兰，使用的绳索是橡皮绳（具有无限的伸缩），有可变的掣动系统，能控制最大伸缩距离。它的特点是比较低的速度，比较高的反弹，感觉平稳，特别适合绑踝跳。
The bungy originated in New Zealand. The rope used is rubber rope (with infinite flexibility), with variable braking system, which can control the maximum flexibility distance. Its characteristics are relatively low speed, relatively high rebound, feeling smooth, especially suitable for ankle-binding jump.
蹦极（bungy/bungee）一词应该是一个极好的音译词，在香港、台湾地区，人们音译为“笨猪跳”（粤语），作这种译法的人大概是认为，如果一个人不笨的话，是断然不会去进行这种“惨烈”的活动的吧。然而，当这项运动从它的起源地发展到世界各地，就受到人们普遍的欢迎，甚至一些极限运动爱好者还要将自己的婚礼仪式放在蹦极塔上进行，一旦“礼成”，就纵身一跳，以示爱情的热诚与忠贞。而去蹦极的人非但不会被称作“笨猪”，反而能够拿到“勇敢者证书”。
